An iceberg has two parts. The part people see is the much smaller part that is above water, What they do not see is the massive part of the iceberg under the surface.

Just like with an iceberg, people see success but fail to appreciate the hard work that led to it.

We are seeing a similar attitude towards the COVID-19 vaccines, where some do not even appreciate the extent of the success, but rather feel that the vaccines were rushed. Though the vaccines are the product of work that has spanned years, there is a failure to appreciate the enormity of the success because the hard work has been invisible to most.

Yet we need to be grateful for the work of all these scientists and appreciate the smarts and resources that made all of it possible, and hopeful about the possibilities for newer vaccines and therapeutics.
